Notion Tutorial
March 12, 2024
As a student, are you stressing out about all those deadlines and timetables you must go through daily? Keeping up with that is definitely challenging. But don't worry. They can also help you learn about your academic resources and techniques. They can make things easier and better organized. In this article, we will explore the development of an efficient student organizer using software! This tool intends to be simple. It is suitable for students of any background. It's practical for an academic experience, and that's what it's about, being user-friendly.
Getting Started with Notion
First, create a page on Notion. Next, click the options menu at the top right to open page settings. In there, choose 'small text' to have the smallest look possible. Then, title your page and choose an icon to suit your planner's personal taste.
Building the Timetable Module
We will start with the timetable module, which will help you keep your classes and schedules in order. First, start building a database named 'Course' using the inline database command. Conceal the database title. Remove the default property. Customize the property names and icons as necessary. Input some sample data into this database.
To improve your view of the courses, tap the three dots in the top right corner of the table. Then, go to the Layout tab and choose "Gallery Layout."
Let's set up a 'Timetable' database within the line as before. This database will help you organize your daily and weekly tasks. First, we'll hide the title and remove the default feature. Then, we'll adjust the property names and icons to your liking. We'll also add a relationship property that links this 'Schedule' database to the 'Course' database we made earlier. This relationship will allow you to associate specific tasks with your courses. We'll repeat this process four more times to create a comprehensive schedule for your week.
Let's start by updating the headers to match each day of the week. First, schedule Monday to Friday in your student planner. Add days if needed for a weekly schedule. Then, include time frames in the designated column using these increments. You can adjust this to suit your needs.
Creating an Assignment Checklist and Goals Module
We've finished the schedule. Now, let's add a checklist for assignments and a goals section. Use your software's tools to create two columns. In the first column, add a title. Use three hash symbols for a level 3 heading. Label it "Assignments." Then, press enter and add three symbols to separate the sections.
Use the task list function or markdown to insert checkboxes for your tasks! Feel free to jot down your tasks and consider emphasizing them by making them bold for easy spotting.
You add a quick access button to streamline the Student Planners process! Just employ the button function to fashion a button with a label of your choosing; then tap on "add action." Opt for "Insert Block." Click the "above button" and create a checkbox with a divider inside it. Done. Now you've got a peasy shortcut to whip up new assignments on the fly whenever you wish!
Let's head over to the column on the side now and designate it as 'Goals.' This section is where you can set and track your academic and personal goals. By having your goals visible in your planner, you can stay focused and motivated to achieve them.
Task Management in Your Planner
The Notion Student Organizer includes a tool for managing tasks. It will help you stay organized and productive on your journey. We must prioritize the initial steps. They ensure the system's design facilitates this process. Use the inline database tool to set up a brand database called "Tasks."
Conceal the database title, remove any associated attributes, modify the attribute's title and icon, and proceed to introduce a checkbox property within this database. Revise the column heading to read "Completion." Subsequently, two button properties should be included in the database.
Click on the button labeled "completed," then select "edit property." Configure it to indicate that the task is finished when the checkbox is checked off. Next, press the button labeled "redo," go back to edit property, and set it to uncheck the completion checkbox after finishing a task.
Finalizing Your Planner
After checking that all is well, tap the three dots in the corner of the table. Navigate to the layout tab and choose "List Layout." Next, access the properties tab. Show the finished button'. Label this view as "Tasks". Adjust the icon for a look.
Now, make a copy of this screen. Label it "Finished." Modify the icon. Then tap on the three dots located in the right corner of the finished screen view. Navigate to the properties section. Conceal the "Finished" button while revealing the "Retry" button in the task list view. Lastly, configure filters for each view. For tasks to do, choose those that are not marked. For completed tasks, pick those that are checked off.
